This is a recording blog, that documents the experimental recording sessions between 2 Kansans and other various collaborators that we invite into our studio. Besides music, you will find all sorts of multimedia projects we have done, videos and songs we like, or just random WEIRD posts that probably do not make any sense but that we find amusing. Feel free to ask us questions and to comment! Interaction is WEIRD!
Let us know what you think. If you know of something WEIRD that should be filmed and put into the series, please let us know! Its all about FUN INTERACTION!
Here is a clip of the first track we recorded from our March 24th Cassette Sessions Volume One. In this session we ran Dr. Gamage’s mic and computer into the mixer. He had a midi keyboard hooked up to the computer and had the VST preset on a string synth sound. Then we plugged My(Griffin) Mic into the board and added a delay effect to it that was running through the FX Send that was run into a Behringer Virtualizer Pro. The mixer then was ran through Griffin’s computer Via his audio interface. He ran a drum machine and several other VSTs as well as Dr. Gamage’s set up into the audio interface outs, which then ran straight into a vintage Panasonic Cassette Deck 610.
This track is a clip from the first improvisational jam. The audio levels were not set right which caused a little distortion on some of the lower frequencies, which I think make it sound pretty cool. Plus you can hear the tape hiss, which adds a little something to this low-fi recording. I blew into a bottle next to my mic in part of the recording. I also used a Sony Mini Cassette recorder and rewound and fast forwarded the tape while it played in other parts. I also did a little bit of beat boxing.
Dr. Gamage is responsible for the screams and other ambient vocals heard.
We are NOT signing with @side_one_dummy! The rumors are not true. We were in talks with them, but they were not a brutal enough label for us. It’s nothing personal between us and the label, and we do thank them for the offer!
In other news:
We are currently working on some multimedia projects, and have acquired a new HQ to write and record our tunes in. We will be getting our #WEIRD on in there tomorrow night! Photos and videos on the way!
Storm Chasing In Larry Gone Wrong! These weirdos go storm chasing in L-town during a tornado warning and took this hilariously awesome video! I think we may have to take some samples from this vid and put it to some
“Crunk yo shit up tunes”
Look for that soon! Don’t die laughing…we are not responsible!
The weirdos haven’t wanked each other off in 2 weeks! Its like he doesn’t love me anymore! So then I hunted his ass down all stalker style and made him confront my eyes! I said…
“Musical penetrationSEX Friday or Death!”
Then he said…
“Ok! I’m sorry!”
Then I said…
“I forgive thee!”
But he wouldn’t give me the tub of mayo! Jesus does it never end?
So my friends…new music is on the way..until then…send me dirty Twits Tweets … http://twitter.com/griffnasty Thats my goddamned number…Call me!
I will be at the Granasty 2nite watching Minus the Bear…I might take video if the drink hasn’t consumed me!
Shit Sneezes out loud! I just was introduced to a new weirdo! It all happened last night when I headed downtown(at top speed) for a caffeinated beverage. I walked into Aimee’s Coffee House and was immediately hit up to help bring an artist I had never heard of to Larry. When I said;
“I have never heard of him.”
They freaked out!
“You’ve never heard of Mark Gormley? I thought you were a rock and roller!”
I hung my head in shame as they described to me the different stances and promptly high jacked my lap top to share with me the mind blowing craziness of this rocker!
Apparently back in the day(See 1970’s), Rocker Gromley had eatin’ quite a bit of LSD. He also recorded some “Interesting” songs that he has now, in his late 40’s, decided to make videos of. The green screen heavy videos feature Gromley lip syncing to very mind blowing abstract, yet naturalistic scenes.
He has three signature dance moves that he is known for… The Right Power Stance, which he often mixes up with the Left Power Stance…and if its a really big crescendo he will finish it up with the Great Lean.
Hope you enjoy, and if you would like to see him come to Lawrence, head on down to Aimee’s coffee house and donate some cash to bring him here! Tell them a weirdo sent you, and then wink awkwardly!
